The Birmingham Bead Shop

We sell beads, buttons and jewellery making supplies from our shop in Birmingham (UK), at the Custard Factory in Digbeth, just 10mins walk from the Bullring.

www.thebirminghambeadshop.co.uk is our official website, which has now become our online shop, but here on our tumblr you'll find ideas and projects, and our blog of things we've been making, things we've been up to and things that we love!

Where does everyone go for classes and craft-based socialising?

Sadly we’ve had to put all our workshops and bead club on hold for a bit until we have somewhere to hold them, but we still get loads of enquiries about classes and bead club so would like to have some contacts to give to anyone who asks.

In terms of craft classes and workshops, so far I know of:

  • Little Beads, above Little A in Kings Heath
  • Various courses at the MAC
  • The courses run by Birmingham City Council
  • Ellie B Jewels who runs courses at Digbeth Court just down the road from us
  • The bead shops in Lichfield and Earlswood
  • Knitting and crochet classes at Stitch Perfect in the Custard Factory
  • One off craft workshops at the WAB shop
  • COWshop - on hold while they find a new venue

And for craft-y socialising, I know of:

  • A Crafty Beer at The Victoria in the city centre
  • The Bearwood Tapestry at The Bear Tavern in Bearwood
  • Stitches and Hos at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath
  • Something at Urban Coffee Co? But not sure if that’s a regular thing yet?

So please let me know where you go or have been for craft classes and workshops, especially beading and jewellery making ones - anywhere in or around Birmingham, and of any craft or jewellery making groups you know of. I’ll put a list with links etc on here and on our website once I’ve got more info. My email address is kate@thebirminghambeadshop.co.uk, and we’re ‘The Birmingham Bead Shop’ and @brumbeadshop on  facebook/twitter.
